And the fundraising begins!
We have received confirmation this morning that the land is still very much for sale and that we are welcome to put in an offer. The highest offer on the land so far is 40 million Icelandic kronur (USD 313 thousand) and the second highest bid is 25 million, or 195,800 dollars.
The local council does not necessarily have to choose the highest offer – it is their duty to choose the BEST offer, meaning that price is only one consideration. To this end, we are working on an inspirational and informative plan for The Nauteyri Project to present the councillors and persuade them that we are the right people to sell the land to and that we deserve to get it at a price reflective of our good intentions for the local economy and nature protection in the area.
